“What am I going to do with this now?” asked he and stood up. He walked up and down in the house where he had recently moved in. He looked at all the furniture, they looked different; they smelled crime.
“So he came here every other night, did all that, took her money and left?” he asked again with a painful disbelief.
“But why couldn’t she tell anyone?” whispered he and began reading the letter more carefully this time.
But who was he, if he is not the one who owns this house now then… he thought and remembered his landlord’s fake attitudes. “Could it be him? The murderer?” he asked himself and saw the time. It was after midnight. Was his curiosity going to let him sleep at all?
That is impossible, she lived in the heart of Armenian community, they could have known that, they would have checked on her often, they are strongly connected like Jewish people, I mean how, how how…his curiosity began beating him up as he walked to the bathroom.
He looked into the mirror:”This is a murder!” he exclaimed. He opened the cabinet; her bandages, sterile gauzes, some medicines were still there. It made him laugh when he first saw that tiny little packet of razor from Germany but now it looked like a box filled with potential to be evidence. He looked at the ceiling before taking a shower. He noticed the crack in the corner of the cubicle. “Maybe he murdered her here, who knows!” murmured he.
“Yes, of course she tried… of course she tried to protect herself…but if she was that old and had no child or husband then it must be someone who was…Yes! That woman, she said Eda had died of colon cancer…why did she say that?” asked he as water softened his skin. He walked out of the cubicle, dried his body with a big white towel and decided to visit his landlord’s mother.
“Yes, didn’t she happily invite me to her house…yes she did…but I think I should invite her here,” said he and put on his grey shirt. “Should I solve this murder?” he asked before falling asleep.
Now, it is your turn.
What is the letter he read all about? What does it reveal?
Why does it interest him so much?
Why did he decide to invite the old lady to his place?
Where does the story take place?
When would you reveal his name in the story?
You decide and write the best of the rest of the story…Show your wit, show your creativity, have fun with it. Happy writing.
